Moving Transportation Forward

THE RECORD OF DECISION HAS BEEN SIGNED BY FHWA

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) signed the Record of Decision (ROD) for the I-15 Corridor Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The signed ROD formalizes the selection of the Joint Lead Agencies (UDOT and FHWA) preferred alternative, which is the I-15 Widening and Reconstruction Alternative, with Option C at American Fork Main Street and Option D in the Provo/Orem area.

The signed ROD completes the environmental process for the I-15 Corridor project. As the last step in the EIS study, the signed ROD now allows the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to proceed with final design and construction on Phase 1 of the I-15 Corridor project.

UDOT HAS COMPLETED THE FINAL EIS

UDOT and FHWA have prepared the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on the I-15 Corridor from Utah County to Salt Lake County.

Responses to all of the more than 450 Draft EIS comments are included in the FEIS. Comments were received from federal and state agencies, local governments, and the general public during the Public Comment Period (Nov. 23, 2007 through Jan. 11, 2008). After careful consideration of technical analysis and public comment, the Joint Lead Agencies (UDOT and FHWA) have selected the I-15 Widening and Reconstruction Alternative, with Option C at American Fork Main Street and Option D in the Provo/Orem area, as their Preferred Alternative for the FEIS.

2008 LEGISLATIVE FUNDING FOR I-15 RECONSTRUCTION

The 2008 Utah State Legislature identified 2.6 billion dollars to fund the future widening and reconstruction of I-15 from American Fork Main Street interchange to Spanish Fork US-6 interchange. Construction could start as early as spring 2010.
