Project Overview
The project under consideration is improvements to State Route (SR) 26 (Riverdale Road) in Weber County, Utah. Riverdale Road begins at SR-126 (1900 West) in Roy and continues northeast for about 3.7 miles through the cities of Roy, Riverdale, South Ogden, and Ogden to U.S. Highway 89 (Washington Boulevard) in Ogden.
The purpose of the project is to reduce congestion and attain a peak hour Level of Service (LOS) D or better along the corridor and at each intersection in the year 2030. The need for improvements is based on current and future traffic demand, existing accident data, and roadway and bridge deficiencies.
Six alternatives were considered including the No-Action Alternative and build alternatives A through E. The build alternatives include six travel lanes from I-15 to Wall Avenue/40th Street, five travel lanes from Wall Avenue/40th Street to Chimes View Drive, and four travel lanes from 36th Street to Washington Boulevard. Each build alternative evaluates different alignment shifts along the 3.7-mile project corridor.
What's Happened So Far?
As part of the public involvement process, the Riverdale Road project team met with the public during the development and refinement of the alternatives. Public meetings were held in 2002, 2003, and 2004.
After these meetings, the project team analyzed the alternatives and worked with local, state, and federal officials to complete the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The Draft EIS was released on July 7, 2006. A Public Hearing/Open House was held on July 27, 2006, to present information and solicit comments on the Draft EIS.
The project team reviewed and considered all comments on the Draft EIS. These comments were addressed in the Final Environmental Impact Statement, which was released on February 7, 2007.
