Freeway with Frontage Roads

UDOT completed a six-month Corridor Planning Study in January 2016. The Corridor Planning Study team recommended a Freeway with Frontage Roads concept based on preliminary evaluation of several transportation concepts and stakeholder input. The Freeway with Frontage Roads concept best addresses congestion, accommodates transit, bike lane and trail improvements, minimizes impacts to existing properties and preserves access to existing developments.

Process and Timeline

To address the growth and travel demands of Eagle Mountain and surrounding areas, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) conducted a State Environmental Study (SES) along Cory B. Wride Memorial Highway (S.R. 73) from Pioneer Crossing to Eagle Mountain Blvd. The SES evaluated the impacts of and determined a preferred alignment for a future Freeway with Frontage Roads system that will reduce projected traffic congestion and travel delay. UDOT considered stakeholder input during the study through a complete public involvement process.

The State Environmental Study was the next phase necessary to fulfill all required environmental clearances, allocate funding and preserve the land needed to build the preferred alignment.

The Final SES was completed in December 2018 and is available to download here, along with information about the alignment and the materials presented at the public open house and hearing.

UDOT held a public hearing to present the Draft SES and receive comments on July 31, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Black Ridge Elementary School in Eagle Mountain.

UDOT held a combined S.R. 73 and Mountain View Corridor public open house on Sept. 7, 2017 to gather input on transportation and environmental considerations in the study area. The study team also met regularly with stakeholder groups and individuals.
